Legeartis Strich

Aphthe, Apthe or Afte? The main thing is to get rid of it!

Legeartis Strich

The term aphthae comes from the Greek and means “inflammation” or blister. The spelling with “ph” is an older, Greek-Latin spelling that is still used in Switzerland and parts of southern Germany. Today, some prefer the more modern spelling “Aphten” with an “h”.

Much more important than the spelling (aphthe, apthe or colloquially “afte”) is the question of how to get rid of the inflammation in the oral cavity. Unlike herpes, aphthae are not contagious, but the reddish-white spots are indeed painful. So what can you do?

This is where the mouth and wound plaster from lege artis Pharma comes into play: LEGASED natural. The natural resin made from myrrh, benzoin and colophony lies on the mucous membrane like a wound dressing (Italian “legare”) and soothes the open area (Italian “sedare”). After application to the sore and moistening with water, a thin protective film forms which protects the sore from chemical and mechanical irritation.

The natural resin solution LEGASED nature supports wound healing and tissue regeneration in a positive way and contributes to pain relief. The film-forming liquid sustainably reduces the penetration of bacteria and food residues. The result: bye-bye, aphthae, aphthae or “Aften” – no matter how you spell the unpleasant oral mucosal inflammation.
